Work out a share of the total
80%
A percentage is a division. One region's sales divided by the total gives its share, as a decimal: 0.3 means thirty per cent.
Formatting a cell as a percentage multiplies the display by a hundred and adds the sign. It does not change the stored number, which is still 0.3, a distinction worth holding on to, because it explains why a cell can show 30% and still behave as 0.3 in the next calculation.
In C2, work out North's share of total sales: North's figure in B2 divided by the total in B7.
